The right cut at the right time does a lot of good. It lets light in, improves airflow, removes damaged growth and gives a small tree a shape you'll enjoy looking at.
Escape Yard provides pruning for small trees and larger shrubs around the Northern Rivers, from Alstonville down to Byron Bay and across to Lismore.
What we prune
We focus on smaller trees and garden-scale pruning: ornamental trees, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, and the overgrown specimens that have crept over paths, fences and windows. For tall trees or major removals, we'll be upfront if a job is beyond our scope and point you to the right kind of specialist.
Why pruning matters here
In our humid subtropical climate, plants put on a lot of growth quickly. Left alone, dense canopies trap moisture and reduce airflow, which can encourage fungal problems. Thoughtful pruning opens things up, helps flowering and fruiting, and keeps branches away from roofs, gutters and walkways.
Our approach
- Remove dead, damaged and crossing branches first
- Thin and shape with the tree's natural habit in mind
- Make clean cuts, never hacking for the sake of speed
- Clear and tidy all cuttings when we're done
We don't believe in butchering a tree for a quick result. A good prune should look natural, as though the tree simply grew that way.
Timing
The best time to prune depends on the plant. Some do best after flowering, others in cooler months. Tell us what you've got and we'll plan the work around what suits it.
Frequently asked questions
Which trees can you prune?
Small trees and shrubs at a manageable garden scale. If a tree is too large or risky for us, we'll say so honestly.
Will pruning harm my tree?
Done properly, pruning improves a tree's health and shape. Timing and technique matter, and we plan both.
Can you prune fruit trees?
Yes. Pruning can help with shape, access and productivity. Let us know what you're growing.
